Würzburg - the capital of Lower Franconia in Bavaria and bishopric of the catholic diocese Würzburg - is located at both sides of the river Main and overtopped by the Marienberg Fortress. It also is the center of the Franconian wine region in Germany as well as the starting point of the famous Romantic Road.
In the year 704, Würzburg was first mentioned in an official document. In 2004, the city celebrated its 1300th anniversary. |
